To celebrate over four years of Echo’s (and our readers’) continued quest for knowledge and many years of all of our collective devotion to these lakes, we are very pleased to announce a very special month-long feature coming up here at Echo: Jeopardy in July for Lake Lovers!

Throughout each week in July, we will post trivia questions dedicated to a specific lake to see how well you know our Great Lakes.  Each question that follows will also contain the answer to the previous question and a breakdown of the polls to show how well you, the readers, did and explain the answers. The schedule is as follows:

Week One: Lake Superior
Week Two: Lake Huron
Week Three: Lake Michigan
Week Four: Lake Erie
Week Five:  Lake Ontario

We hope you enjoy playing – and be sure to check back all throughout July so you don’t miss your chance to show us how much you know!

  1. I have a suggestion. How about opening a conversation about “Ice Boom Theory” and the effects on the Lower Great Lakes? Let the readers do some home work by reading http://www.bantheboom.com and then post questions and comments. Lake Erie is a sickly mess and I have offered the only possible reason and solution. Lake Ontario is starving. Again my answer fits perfectly. The Niagara River is horribly ugly. Lets see what kind of muscle Great Lakes Echo has. Thanks, Joe Barrett

  2. I really enjoy Great Lakes Echo. I live in Chicago and the Great Lakes are what make this region a great place to live. (Sometimes I wish the Lakes were a little warmer, but that may take car of itself.) I think it’s great that MSU puts out the website as a free service, but have you ever thought of charging something? The funds could be used for research and to expand the publication. I would pay a reasonable amount for Great Lake Echo, you can’t get this kind of info anywhere else.
