Shedd Aquarium is showing its love for the Great Lakes for Valentine’s Day.
Shedd released a series of valentines featuring Great Lakes species as a way to show appreciation for your sweetheart and for animals important to the lakes.
These punny Valentines include snapping turtles, mudpuppies and ducks that make it easy to tell your valentine how “ducky” you are to have them.
Send your valentine “a gar-gantuan hug,” or show how you “only have walleyes” for them with cards that are like no “otter.”
The puns are accompanied by fun facts about the different species. Ducks, for example, choose only one partner during the mating season, but do not mate for life.
Shedd officals say they have “no trout” that your special someone will love these valentines. They may even have to “call a sturgeon, ‘cause you’re such a heartbreaker.'”
Shedd is celebrating with a Feel the Love Event through Feb. 14 when visitors who buy Total Experience Passes receive free desserts and enter for a chance to win the ultimate date: a Beluga Encounter for two.
The prize includes VIP tickets to an aquatic show, a gift card to Aurelio’s Pizza and complete access to the aquarium.
