Destruction from tailgating at Michigan game called ‘worst ever’ by Great Lakes Echo
Every home football Saturday here in East Lansing, thousands of people flock to the Michigan State campus to take part in a sacred ritual: tailgating. But the pastime takes a toll. After the celebrating, landscaping personnel at MSU repair damage to grass and trees.
Some of those personnel are calling last Saturday’s damage the worst they’ve seen.
Dr. Frank Telewski, MSU Professor of Plant Biology and curator of MSU’s Beal Garden, says heavy rains meant ruts gouged into the ground by cars were especially bad.
Strongly agree with Dr. Telewski’s suggestions of punishment for violators. I want grandchildren and great grandchildren to know a campus as beautiful as it was when I went to school here !!
