Illinois has the highest percentage of facilities with air quality violations in 2012 among the Great Lakes states, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Minnesota has the lowest.

The figures come from an EPA map that reports state compliance with regulations. The map’s dashboard allows users to choose different measures and different years.

Here are the percentages of major facilities with air quality violations for each state:

Illinois: 68 percent of 486 major facilities.

Michigan: 42 percent of 387 major facilities.

Wisconsin: 39 percent of 452 major facilities.

Pennsylvania: 34 percent of 591 major facilities.

Indiana: 21 percent of 610 major facilities.

Ohio: 25 percent of 575 major facilities.

New York: 22 percent of 422 major facilities.

Minnesota: 14 percent of 288 major facilities.

If measured as the percentage of all evaluated facilities, major and other-sized, that have high-priority violations, the overall picture changes but Illinois and Minnesota remain best and worst:

Illinois: 17 percent of 350 evaluated facilities.

Indiana: 12 percent of 440 evaluated facilities.

Ohio: eight percent of 536 evaluated facilities.

Wisconsin: four percent of 233 evaluated facilities.

Pennsylvania: four percent of 990 evaluated facilities.
