Beautiful photo. Nicely done, Evan.
I’ve made countless Ambassador crossings and have an affinity for the bridge. But it’s time to move on and I’ll welcome the new one.
Canada is putting up $500 million and that says a lot.
I love the Ambassador but things change and its time is in the past.

Mike is right. There is no sound argument against the new bridge just rhetoric spread by the owners of the Ambassador Bridge who will lose money.
Taken through eminent domain it would still have to be paid for. Instead the money should be for a new bridge. Public infrastructure should be publicly owned & paid for. I want my taxes to pay for the new bridge and I want to own it as part of the public. The NITC will be a good alternative to the Ambassador Bridge and take business away from the AB. That’s why the AB owners are spending millions to stop it and why so many businesses and their oragnizations support the NITC. I just wish they would put up the money to counteract all those inaccurate ads. The AB was overcrowded before and will be again without the NITC, unless you believe that the Michigan and US economy will never recover. The AB was in a great location when it was built but it’s lousy now and we need a new bridge at a different location. That’s why a twin-span won’t work either.
The State of Michigan should condemn the Ambassador Bridge through eminent domain and make THAT into a public bridge. Building a new bridge will cost hundreds of millions of dollars, require completely new infrastructure to service a new location, negatively impact historic Fort Wayne, condemn thousands of Detroiters to suffer additional traffic and diesel fumes, and destroy valuable areas around Canada’s Objibway Prairie. We can’t take care of the bridges and roads we already have, yet the politicians want to build and build and build…just so they can spend and spend and spend.
