Flint, Michigan has been talked about a lot in the last few years, and, more often than not, it’s outsiders doing the talking.
“Happy Anyway: A Flint Anthology” collects stories from insiders–people who know the city beyond the scope of failed industry and water crises. People who love Flint in the face of its flaws.
Edited by long-time Flint resident and journalist Scott Atkinson, the book aims to capture the spirit of a city that refuses to be defined by the tragedies it has endured.
Reporter Marie Orttenburger spoke with Atkinson about the collection and his own connections with the city of Flint.
“Happy Anyway” is available for purchase from Belt Publishing and Amazon.
