Farmers, filming and Flint: Land, need and passion found here

Editor’s note: Michigan State University faculty and students are producing an hour-long documentary called Farmers, filming and Flint. Each week Great Lakes Echo previews some of their raw material which will be used to extend the previously produced The Kings of Flint.

This week: We bring you a profile on Johanna Lehrman and Roxanne Adair, the owners of Flint River Farm, the city’s largest farm.  Lehrman, who grew up in New York City, moved to Flint to farm because the city provides opportunities to buy and lease land at a low cost. Adair, who grew up in Flint, says one of the reasons she farms is because Flint residents need access to fresh produce grown closer to home.
