The St. Clair River is an international boundary between Lake Huron at Port Huron, Michigan and Sarnia, Ontario that extends to Lake St. Clair.

It had been among the most polluted rivers in the area due to a long history of industrial contamination and sewage runoff.

Friends of the St. Clair River has been working to improve the quality of the river by eliminating it as an Area of Concern, an international designation of pollution hot spots in the Great Lakes region of the United States and Canada.
