More

Students at Onaway High School in Onaway, Michigan, produced this video with a Knight Center for Environmental Journalism grant intended to promote collaboration between high school journalism and environmental science classes.

The Michigan State University center is the publisher of Great Lakes Echo.

The teachers overseeing this project are Barb Kowalewsky and Scott Steensma. They also worked with a professional mentor, Richard Crofton, publisher of the Cheboygan Daily Tribune and Sault News.

The project was one of three selected in the first year of a statewide competition.  The Knight Center will hold a competition in the fall for a second round of high school collaboration grants.
