Many people are familiar with the iconic Niagara Falls, but what about in the winter? Andre Beyzaei captured a side of the Falls that is much less well known — Falls surrounded by a wintry landscape with chunks of ice churning in the water.

Beyzaei lives in Toronto and shot this video of the falls on Feb. 15. He was originally going to film Lake Superior, but arctic air from the polar vortex moved south and froze part of the Falls, making it a perfect scene to capture.

Beyzaei takes videos of ice cover for himself and his friends as a hobby, but posts them to YouTube as well to share with the public. His channel features other videos of frozen Niagara, as well as of ice cover and fog over Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.

The rest of his channel features compilations of videos related to climate, the environment and geology. Visit his channel here.
