And here’s a tourney bracket.

Here’s your chance to discuss and vote below which of these teams  should win this match based on its commitment to sustainability.

Minnesota Wild

The Wild were arguably a surprise to see in the playoffs after the start of the season, but for the Eco Cup they have to be a heavyweight. Minnesota offset electricity used during home games for the entire 2011-2012 season with wind-power purchases. They have also installed bike racks to allow staff and fans to bike to the arena. Staff receive bus vouchers and access to charging stations for electric cars. Within three years the Wild have reduced emissions of carbon compounds, their carbon footprint, by 7,100 metric tons! Composting initiatives are under way, and team officials hope to reduce trash by more than 50 percent and increase recycling by more than 50 percent. The arena is certified by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program, better know an as LEED.

Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks arguably have one of the best rosters in the National Hockey League. How will they stack up in the Eco-Cup? Chicago sponsors several “go green games” where the organization purchases renewable energy credits to match the electrical consumption for that game. The Blackhawks have also partnered with Chicago Gateway Green for beautification projects including the Sponsored Expressway Gardens, Chicago Gateway Green reported.

You can argue for the winner in the comments below and vote for them here. Echo will declare the winner Friday.
