The water cycle is pretty simple. Evaporation. Condensation. Precipitation. But when urban areas filled with buildings and parking lots get in the way, the cycle gets interrupted, and that can cause all sorts of problems, from flooding basements to sewer overflows.
A new project from the Great Lakes Commission is hoping to help solve those problems by reconnecting the natural watershed.

This approach transforms “brownfields to greenfields” into brownfields into watersheds. It also redirects emphasis on restoration of water and public trust in water as a benchmark, so we begin to order actions, projects, and programs around this principle and the watersheds its protects. The GLC is commended for getting behind this.
