this is my business, and i can tell you every year that goes by increases cost. A run that can be lined this year might need extensive repairs next year before lining. pipe failures, offset joints, and voids have to be repaired prior to lining and they get worse each year. A line can be cipp for not half, but 15 % of replacement cost if no repairs are necessary.

Dave Im siding with you on this one. It is the municipality and home owners responsibility to fix their own old leaky pipes. Unfortunately people are misguided in thinking it’s someone else’s responsibility. There is a technology (new to the US) which repairs leaking sewers at 1/2 the price of old fashioned excavation & pipe replacement. No Dig aka Trenchelss Sewer Repair or Sewer Re-lining. It goes inside your old pipe and seals all the leaking joints which will prevent further leaking and tree root infestation.

Tackling this problem could certainly put a huge dent in the unemployment situation in the Great Lakes Region. If only the folks who rail against paying a fair share in taxes for services that they depend on from government would wake up. Government – which is, by the way, comprised of each and every citizen – is NOT the enemy and, when it tackles infrastructure problems, it is clearly working for the benefit of all.
