MPCA orders Thief River Falls dairy to drain manure basins

(MN) Minneapolis Star Tribune – State pollution authorities on Thursday ordered a northwestern Minnesota dairy to immediately empty two manure basins that have produced odors and health problems for neighbors.

The action is the latest step of enforcement against Excel Dairy near Thief River Falls. Last September, state health officials declared hydrogen sulfide emissions from the dairy to be a public health hazard. More
